Abilify - an atypical antipsychotic drug used to manage schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, and Alzheimer’s disease. 

 

Anesthesiologist - a physician who specializes in anesthesiology, the study of medications and procedures that temporarily take away or block sensation and feeling. 

 

Ativan - in a group of drugs called benzodiazepines. It affects chemicals in the brain that may become unbalanced and cause anxiety. Ativan is used to treat anxiety disorders. 

 

Benzodiazepines - are used short-term to control acute symptoms of hypomania, including insomnia and agitation. These drugs are classified as minor tranquillizers.

 

Depakote -  affects chemicals in the body that may be involved in causing seizures. Depakote is used to treat various types of seizure disorders. It is sometimes used together with other seizure medications. Depakote is also used to treat manic episodes related to bipolar disorder. 

 

Lamictal -  an anti-epileptic medication, also called an anticonvulsant. Lamictal is used either alone or in combination with other medications to treat epileptic seizures in adults and children. Lamictal is also used to delay mood episodes in adults with bipolar disorder.

 

Lithium - affects the flow of sodium through nerve and muscle cells in teh body. Sodium affects excitation or mania. Lithium is used to treat the manic episodes of manic depression.

 

Psychogenic - originating in the mind or in mental or emotional processes; having a psychological rather than a physiological origin. 

 

Psychopharmacologist – a scientist or doctor who specializes in the study of drugs and how they affect the mind. 

 

Risperdal - a antipsychotic medicine. It works by changing the effects of chemicals in the brain. Risperdal is used to treat schizophrenia and symptoms of bipolar disorder (manic depression). Risperdal is also used in autistic children to treat symptoms of irritability.

 

Seroquel - an antipsychotic medicine. It works by changing the actions of chemicals in the brain. Seroquel is used to treat schizophrenia in adults and children who are at least 13 years old. Seroquel is used to treat bipolar disorder (manic depression) in adults and children who are at least 10 years old. It is also used together with antidepressant medications to treat major depressive disorder in adults.

 

Seroquel XR (Quetiapine) - an antipsychotic medicine. It works by changing the actions of chemicals in the brain. Quetiapine is used to treat schizophrenia in adults and children who are at least 13 years old. Quetiapine is used to treat bipolar disorder (manic depression) in adults and children who are at least 10 years old. Quetiapine is also used together with antidepressant medications to treat major depressive disorder in adults.

 

Tegretol - an anticonvulsant. It works by decreasing nerve impulses that cause seizures and pain. Tegretol is used to treat seizures and nerve pain such as trigeminal neuralgia and diabetic neuropathy. Carbamazepine is also used to treat bipolar disorder.

 

Trileptal - in a group of drugs called anticonvulsants, or antiepileptic drugs. It works by decreasing nerve impulses that cause seizures. Trileptal is used to treat partial seizures in adults and children who are at least 2 years old. 

 

Valium - a benzodiazepine. Diazepam affects chemicals in the brain that may become unbalanced and cause anxiety.Valium is used to treat anxiety disorders, alcohol withdrawal symptoms, or muscle spasms. Valium is sometimes used with other medications to treat seizures.

 

Xanax - belongs to a group of drugs called benzodiazepines. It works by slowing down the movement of chemicals in the brain that may become unbalanced. This results in a reduction in nervous tension (anxiety). Xanax is used to treat anxiety disorders, panic disorders,  and anxiety caused by depression.
